First impression – The best impression. Profile Image Photography tips

Last week I had the honour to talk in front of a group of small business owners on a workshop run by the lovely Faye Smith at Keep Your Fork PR & Marketing.  Her Brand Booster workshops focused on different elements of promoting your business and this particular sector was highlighting the importance of image and entitled “Your personal style, image & photos”. With a little introduction from Faye and a hour on personal style & image from Jane at True Colours Studio, I talked to the attendees at True Colours Image Consultancy’s Sheffield studio about what makes a good or bad profile image and about how the first impression is the best one. We spoke about how a holiday snap shot as your Twitter avatar or Facebook business profile was perhaps not the impression you want someone to leave your page with. A professional image with professional lighting and tips on how to stand etc all make the difference between someone viewing your profile briefly and someone coming back again and again. I also let the attendees into a few little photography secrets! It was a lovely group and I so enjoyed the morning talking to them all.  I […]

A photographers holiday!

Bonjour! My first blog since way before our holiday with the children… very poor I know, consider myself ticked off. April has been a bit of a blur with all the bank holidays, our family holiday to Brittany, Easter and the Royal Wedding, but we’re back on track now and once again Chrysalis Towers is purring along like a finely tuned Ferrari. I thought that I’d go off track for this blog and personalise it a little with a short video of images from our holiday. Just a few snaps including our accommodation – Le Manoir du Neviet, a beautiful Manor with Gites in the grounds (www.lemanoir-duneveit.com). Just the place to recharge the batteries and get away from the day to day pressures of running your own business. It was also a photographers paradise and the owners asked us to take some more images of their property to update the website. How could we refuse. Chris had barely been in the office during the first few weeks of April, but had been buzzing around and Chrysalis Towers was a hive of activity. We had 2 wedding fayres, 3 full days at our studio in Peterborough and 3 commercial shoots just […]

The Perfect Pink Tea Party

A happy Wednesday morning to you all! A short little mid week blog from me today whilst I think on. Apparently the weather is going to be glorious today and we have an outdoor commercial shoot – so fingers crossed for a bright day. Last Thursday (31st March) we had the privilege to be asked to photograph the Perfect Pink Tea Party at the Copthorne Hotel in aid of the Weston Park Cancer Hospital Charity. Lots of pretty pink outfits and even the boys entered into the spirit of it with their pink shirts, jumpers and even a pink velvet jacket! They even had show girls and Ronan Keating…. or was it Gary Barlow… well nearly… a Ronan Keating/Gary Barlow tribute who belted out a few numbers. There was also a very touching and emotional speech from Mark Ward about how cancer had touched his life… not a dry eye in the house and a story that makes you truly appreciate life. The event was organised by the 2 Victorias – Victoria Wood from Fairy Communications and Victoria Roberts from Star PS in aid of the Charity which is close to their hearts and they raised a very commendable £1230 […]

Mr Brad Burton at Yorkshire Mafia

Good Afternoon all – how’s your Monday been thus far?? Firstly my I apologies for my bad behaviour – 2 weeks without a blog is just rude. Sorry! I’m trying my best to find some decent excuses but I can’t, just time. So as way of an apology I may just hit you with a double whammy and post another blog tomorrow. On a lighter note, spring is in the air, blue skies and sunshine brighten our days and there is a smile on everyones face. This week on top of the usual portrait and commercial bookings we were asked to photography Brad Burton, MD of the international networking group – 4networking at the Yorkshire Mafia conference in Leeds. Brad is a big character with a big heart and is a fantastic inspiration to many and we were delighted to not only photograph him but also get the chance to hear his fantastic inspirational talk. Chris really has captured the essence of Brad showing his passion for business and getting people of their arse… not being rude, that’s the name of his books GOYA (Get off your Arse) and GOYAtoo (the sequel) – a really good read and both available […]
