A maternity photo shoot is a unique opportunity to own images that will mean so much more as time goes by. We offer a wide range of styles to cater for all tastes and sensitivities. Many mums-to-be say it’s a great experience. We have also encountered many mums who didn’t do it and who wish they had. As this could be the only time you look and feel this way it’s a fabulous way to remember ‘the bump you love’.
Your questions answered
Mums-to-be usually have lots of questions about pregnancy or maternity photography, as for most it is their first time and it’s natural to be apprehensive.

When is the best time for a pregnancy photo session?
We advise you book your session between 34-36 weeks (4-6 weeks before the baby is due). If you have decided to do this last minute and you are already past that date, then please feel free to contact us to see if we have any openings.
Where does the photo shoot take place, and how long does it take?
Our new studio is situated in Chesterfield, on the edge of the Derbyshire countryside, and includes a private dressing room area for you to use. On the day of your shoot we make sure that the studio is warm, calm and private so you can feel completely at ease. We always block out a full two hours to ensure you are not waiting around or late finishing. This gives ample time for wardrobe changes, and we find we often get a set of fabulous images in less than the full hour.
How much do I reveal?
You only reveal as much or as little as you are comfortable with. We want you to feel relaxed and natural during the shoot, and be delighted with the results, so let us know what you would like. If you are not sure, have a look through our gallery and decide what sort of images appeal to you, and we can discuss in more detail before you book. Our photographer will expertly guide you through the session, advising you on the best poses and angles to flatter your new maternal shape, so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
What should I wear on the day?
We always recommend you wear loose fitting clothing on the day of your shoot to avoid elastic marks on your skin. You should bring matching underwear, a pair of jeans, and a bandeau top. Feel free to bring anything else that makes you feel good – special jewellery, your favourite lipstick, a baby gift you’ve received. We also have a range of beautiful fabrics and props that you may like to use during your shoot.
Can you do make-up / hair professionally too?
Yes, we can arrange a professional makeup artist and hair stylist who we regularly work with. Choosing this as an extra helps makes it a special occasion and can make you feel more confident about posing. Let us know at the time of booking what you would like, and we can arrange it all for you.
Can we bring other members of the family?
Yes, of course. If you would like to include your partner and/or other children that’s absolutely fine. Please let us know when you get in touch.
Do you do image re-touching?
We are very experienced in all photo editing and image enhancement techniques and can airbrush any blemishes to leave a flawless finish whilst still being true to the real you. We offer a range of photo effects and edits as standard, including black and white, and spot colour effects.
How do we choose images?
Once your shoot is complete we invite you back 7-10 days later for a personal slideshow experience in our projection room, where we can help you select the best images. We also have samples of the many print and frame styles you can choose from to complement any sort of home décor.
How can we get prints of our chosen images?
We offer a wide range of printed products and frames to suit all styles and budgets. Popular choices are canvas prints, montages and floating frames, as well as free-standing frames and acrylic desk blocks for a very contemporary look. You can also choose to receive your high resolution images on DVD.
Do you do Gift Vouchers?
Yes, we have vouchers ranging from £25 to the full value of the portrait session plus complimentary prints.
Are we under any obligation to buy?
No, we hope you love your images and would like to order prints, but you are under no obligation to do so.
