The wedding of Pete and Sophie – Bedfordshire

It’s particularly lovely for me to capture the wedding day of a couple that I have already had chance to get to know. The recent wedding of Pete and Sophie was a perfect example of this. They were first introduce to me through their close friends, Neil and Jess, after they had been to us a number of for family portraits with their little boy. This was back in the day when we had a strong studio presence in Peterborough, so a short trip from Bedfordshire was easy. However, when Pete and Soph announced their engagement it was not long before they dragged them two hours up to our Chesterfield studio, where they combined an up-to-date family shoot, a wedding consultation and a weekend away. Pete and Sophie are a wonderful couple and so I was thrilled when they chose me as their wedding photographer. They even came up a second time, with Neil and Jess, and we spent a lovely couple of hours at Padley Gorge, for an engagement shoot. So once you’ve spent that much time together they stop being clients and feel much more like friends, making their wedding day even more special for me. They’re on […]

Sunshine on a rainy day

“Simply amazing! Chris flew to Mallorca to capture our wedding, he went above and beyond what we could have hoped for, and even proved rather adept at untangling Mrs. Selby’s necklace. .. brilliant photographer, even better bloke…. could not be happier!!!!”   Whilst England was drowning in a sea of torrential downpours and horrific storms, Jamie & Sarah were bathing in the beautiful sunshine of Portal Nous, Mallorca for their wedding day.  I had the privilege of joining them on their special day  to photograph their wedding and join in with the celebrations.  Sarah looked stunning and even though very emotional looked truly beautiful throughout the day.  At no time more so than when family and friends welcomed the newly married couple and the room fell silent whilst little Oliver asked if he could speak.  He simply said to his step mum “Hello Mrs Selby”.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the house (including mine).     We first met Jamie & Sarah when they came to us for an engagement shoot back in October.   At this point they were deciding between Derbyshire and Mallorca and asked if we were free if they married in the UK.  Imagine their […]

The wedding of Mr and Mrs Clark

Well our wedding season is all but over, with just a couple more albums to create once the couples have chosen their favourites. Time for us to get posting blogs again. We’ll start with Ryan and Natalie’s wedding in Prestbury. The village is absolutely beautiful, and the perfect setting for a wedding.   I’ve been blessed with the most wonderful wedding couples over the years, and Ryan and Natalie were no exception. Ryan recently took the brave move to end his career as a city banker, and carried out self-funded training program to become a qualified airline pilot. A fantastic achievement and a testament to the strength of their relationship that Ryan could take such a dramatic change of career, knowing that Natalie would support him 100%. We were in a similar situation 6 years ago when I gave up my career in the chemical industry to pursue this dream. I must give credit to my wife, Allie, at this point, and say there’s no way I could’ve done it without her. So I’ve no doubt that this early demonstration of Ryan and Natalie’s strength and support for each other will mean they will have a very long and amazing […]

Wedding Photography in Cambridge

So Lizzie and Michael came to view their images from their wonderful Cambridge wedding. I always leave the bride and groom for half an hour or so to view their images in private on the projector, which I think is the best way to see them. It’s always so lovely to see the smiles on their faces and the tears in their eyes when I finally go back into the room after the viewing. I know I’ve done my job properly when I’ve made at least one of them cry. Here’s a few of my favourites from the day, and there’s a link at the end for anybody wishing to view or purchase any images from the day.   >

Chris and Rebecca – Thorpe Salvin, near Sheffield

What a fabulous couple of weeks of weather we’ve been having, which makes our wedding days even more wonderful to be a part of. This time we were very close to my Sheffield home, in a gorgeous little village called Thorpe Salvin. Chris and Rebecca were a wonderful couple, and I particularly loved Rebecca’s choice of Dress and flowers, both of which were simple, but amazingly effective.   The wedding was held in Thorpe Salvin Church, followed by a marquee reception in one of their kind neighbours fields. The close proximity of the ceremony and reception meant that we could also pop over to the ruins of Thorpe Salvin Old Hall, which proved to be a gorgeous backdrop for a few of the images.     It threatened to rain a few times, but held off all day, and the marquee was perfect for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment, which included a Ceilidh and singing performances from friends and relatives. Rebecca’s brother in-particular gave a fine performance on his ukulele. Here’s a short highlights slideshow from their wedding. We wish Rebecca and Chris a wonderful married life together and also best of luck with the start of their new […]
